Lynn Ellen Callahan born in Oakland, CA passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 24 in Fremont CA. We will greatly miss her. She was, as her father Walt said, ‘the rock of the family’. She battled health issues with great courage before succumbing to their cumulative effect.

She was a manager of Musicland at the Newpark Mall. She was then a resident assistant at Carlton senior facility and a caregiver for her grandparents. She later worked as a dispatcher at Waste Management in Oakland and in customer care for AT&T in Pleasanton, and SRP (in AZ). When she moved to AZ, she bought a home in Apache Junction enjoying the slower tempo of AZ and the Superstition Mountains which she could see from her backyard. In 2011, she moved back to the bay area to be near family.

She loved baking banana bread, romantic movies and books, 80s rock music and British comedy. She took great care of her cats and dogs, especially little Mikey who was her constant companion. She had a dry sense of humor and a generous heart. She was reverential to God and Jesus and was always looking for churches that led with kindness. She prayed for others devoutly.

She is preceded in death by her father Walter Howell Callahan and mother Sharon Ellen Callahan. She is survived by her sister Jill Stahl and brother-in-law David Stahl; brothers James Callahan and Robert Callahan and sister-in-law Rhonda; many dear cousins; Aunt Patricia Kulda; Uncle Bill and Aunt Carol Harman; step-siblings; and a nephew, Lance Stahl.

Frederick Douglas said: It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men. Lynn wrote this down, it meant something to her.

A celebration of life will be held in Mendocino county by the family, honoring Lynn’s wishes.
