Obituaries

Marguerite was a devoted member of Saint Edward Catholic Church since 1961. She devoted her time ministering engaged couples and being active in Marriage Encounter with her loving husband, Richard, who passed on December 1, 2023. She worked for Newark Unified School District at Memorial High School and the district office for 28 years as an Administrative Assistant and has been retired for 26 years. She volunteered her time at the Saint Edward Church office, Kaiser Hospital and Oakland A’s.

Her survivors include her 5 children, Richard (Sandra), Michael (Hilda), Elizabeth (Craig) Cesco, Christine (Matthew) Herrera, Andrew Durand, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren with number 19 on the way, 3 great-great grandchildren, her brother-in-law Arthur (Joan) Durand of Fall River, MA and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at Saint Edward Church in Newark, CA on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.
