Obituary For Maria Gilda Bettencourt
Born August 21, 1925 in Azores, Portugal, and entered into rest on May 9, 2013 in Newark, CA at the age of 87. Predeceased by her husband Jose Azevedo Bettencourt in 1990. Beloved mother of Gilda Bettencourt of San Francisco. Cherished sister of Albertina Serpa of Newark, and Manuel Serpa of Livermore. Gilda was a member of the Carmelite Order and a parishioner at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Newark.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, from 5-8pm with a Vigil at 6:30pm at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, 10:30am at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave., Newark, CA 94560. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
