Obituary For Maria Martinez Rodriguez

Born on July 22nd, 1933 in San Gaspar de los Reyes, Jalisco, MX, and entered into rest on October 30th, 2015 in Fremont, CA at the age of 82. Survived by her daughter Maria Padilla and her son Gregorio Rodriguez Jr. of Union City, CA. Daughter of Francisco Martinez (father) and Simona Gonzalez (mother) was raised along with one brother, Pedro, and three sisters, Conception (Sor Florentina), Nemecia (Sor Gaudelia), and Mercedes. She was the fourth child alive in the family and the last one survived. Then the family relocated to Jalostotitlan, Jalisco, MX when she was five years old. Married Gregorio Rodriguez in 1949 whom conceived one daughter, Maria de la Asuncion, and two sons, Jose de Jesus, and Gregorio. Migrated to Union City, CA in 1978 to be reunited with her daughter and older son where she lived the rest of her life. With great love she had the privilege to see most of her seven grandsons and four granddaughters raised. As beauty as nature with the wonders of God, she was so pleased to welcome two great grandsons and one great granddaughter.

As catholic all her life, she had great devotion to the “Virgin of the Ascension” patronage of the main church in town. Barely missed any Virgin annual festival which is a great tradition celebrated every year the first 15 days of August.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5th, from 5-8pm with a Vigil at 7pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 703 C St., Union City, CA 94587. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 6th, 10am at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA. After the burial, please join the family for a reception from 1-4pm in the hall at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
