Obituary For Maria Sidonia Brasil
Born July 7, 1921 in Portugal, and entered into rest on June 2, 2015 in Fremont, California at the age of 93. Survived by her children: Jose Brasil (Georgina), and Goretti Silva (Jose); grandchildren: Cristina Peixoto (Joe), Roberto Brasil (Tabitha), Marlene Smith (Charles), Betsy Silva, Susy Brasil, and Steve Silva; great-grandchildren: Joe, Jr., Jason, Julio, Kayley, Kaiden, and Jakob; and sisters: Luiza Brasil, Lucinda Furnas, and Lurdes Alves.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, from 4-8pm with a Vigil at 6:30pm at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 12, 10:30am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.

I remember, when I was little, my grandma and I would climb up the hill a little ways up from our house in Velas to pick herbs to make tea or soup. We had a great view of Pico and Faial. We'd also go to mass every morning which I loved. We'd stop by the park near the church that had all these birds in this large cage. It was a simpler life. We didn't have much but it was a less stressful and happier life as well. Memories like these fill my heart with much joy, love and happiness. Rest in peace my dearest grandmother.
