Obituary For Marina “Rina” E. Lopez
Marina E. “Rina” Lopez was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, friend, and faithful woman of God whose life reflected love, creativity, compassion, and deep devotion to those around her.
Rina was born on November 10, 1967, to Marina E. Hernandez and Thomas Hernandez. She grew up in San Francisco with her three siblings, Elizabeth, Karolyn, and Thomas, attending Sunnyside Elementary School, West Portal Lutheran School, and Lowell High School.
She spent much of her professional life serving in school districts, including in Hayward and Contra Costa County, where she faithfully supported and encouraged those around her through her work.
For over 25 years, Rina was a devoted member of her church community. Her faith was the foundation of her life. A woman of prayer, she faithfully interceded for others through her prayer group. When someone was struggling, she did more than offer words—she prayed, followed up, and remained present. Rina made sure people felt seen, remembered, and never alone. Her compassion was evident in every part of her life. She had a quiet gift for noticing when someone needed encouragement and responding with sincere care. Her kindness was often shown through small, meaningful acts that left a lasting impact.
Rina was also a gifted and imaginative creator. She loved crafting and spent many hours designing beautiful gift baskets filled with thoughtful, carefully chosen items, often created for real estate agents as housewarming gifts. She also made and sold handmade soaps and other crafts, sharing her work through a small booth where she connected with others and offered pieces made with love and intention.
She had a natural ability to bring beauty into everyday life. Rina also found great joy in cooking and baking, which became another expression of her love. She especially loved cooking for her husband, Javier Lopez, and preparing meals for family and friends. Her food was a gift of warmth and care that brought people together and made every gathering feel special.
Above all, Rina was a devoted wife to Javier. Their marriage reflected deep love, partnership, and shared faith. Together, they built a life rooted in companionship, laughter, and steady devotion, caring for one another with tenderness in both ordinary and meaningful moments.
Rina delighted in life’s simple beauties. She loved flowers, elegant clothing, antiques, teacups and teapots, and anything with charm or history.
She also enjoyed dogs, birds, crafting, antique shopping, and time spent with loved ones.
She had a refined appreciation for beauty, never focused on excess but on meaning. Rina found joy in small, treasured moments—a blooming flower, a favorite teacup, a handmade gift, a shared meal, a prayer, or quiet time with Javier and family.
Rina’s presence left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She remembered others in prayer long after conversations ended, showed up with thoughtful gestures when they were needed most, and offered steady, sincere kindness without expectation. Her love was consistent and deeply felt.
Her legacy is not measured in years, but in the countless lives made brighter by her faith, gentleness, and love. ❤️
Rina will be deeply missed by her husband, Javier; her siblings, Elizabeth, Karolyn, and Thomas; her extended family; her church family; her friends; her neighbors; and all who were blessed by her presence.
She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, creativity, kindness, devotion, and compassion that will continue to live on in every life she touched.
Though our hearts are heavy with her sudden passing, we are profoundly grateful for the life God shared with Rina. We will carry her forward—in every prayer spoken, every memory cherished, every flower that blooms, every teacup lifted in remembrance, and every act of kindness done in her spirit.
Rina was deeply loved. She will always be remembered.
