I am Mark's cousin Rick. Mark and I grew up together. Mark was 3 months to the day older than me and my first memories of Mark go back to our sitting together in high chairs eating Animal Cookies. We discovered at a very young age that we loved being near each other. As children we played together in the fifties and sixties and loved every chance we had to be together. At around age 3 Mark and I received toy metal trucks from our Grandpa Sutton and played with them in the driveway of the house on Lincoln Ave in Alameda. At age 4 or 5 Mark was the first of the two of us to learn how to tie his shoes. I can remember him showing me and how proud he was (I learned to zip my jacket first though!). When the Simonetti's moved to Fremont our family was living in Hayward in Fairway Park. At around age 7 I remember Mark rode his bicycle from his house to mine so that we could play together. My Aunt Nadine asked Mark if he remembered the way to our house before he left and he assured her he did. I always remembered how amazing that feat was. I tried to do the same thing by riding my bike to his house but turned back at about the half way point because it was SO FAR. HOW DID HE DO IT? We loved being able to stay together at Grandmom and Grandpa Suttons' on Nason St. in Alameda, and would go to Washington Park to play on the Locomotive there, and often making our way to South Shore Beach to play in the bay. We Played at Pee Water Pond and the creek along side the railroad tracks in Fairway Park. Our families camped together, played in the snow at Dodge Ridge, and picnicked at Big Trees where Mark caught his first trout, another occasion where he beamed with pride. Mark and I rode bikes all around Fremont in the sixties during Summer Vacation. There were many times my sister Janis and I stayed over night at the Simonetti's but the one that is still my favorite was the night Mark, Mike and I were in the bedroom after lights out and Mark started making "Raspberries" from his arm pi

Tony and Family, Dave Jenkins from the old Capitan Crew. My thoughts are with you and your family this weekend. Mark was the comic relief for my brother and me. He was adventurous and hilarious. That's how I knew him, and that's how I will remember him. God bless you all. Dave J.

My uncle was the nicest guy! He always took care of us and made sure we had warm cloths . Him and aunt Lori took me to get my first makeup when I was 14. When I got my Saturn I use to go over to his house and wash it and we would talk and laugh. I also remember when he took all of his nieces to the movies and we had so much fun. I miss his laugh and his Hawaiian shirts. I love you uncle. Xoxo Thank you for always being there when we needed you.
