Obituary For Mary Evelyn Jackson
Evelyn Jackson passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimer's disease on Christmas Eve. She was able to join her husband of 66 years, John, for the Christmas holidays.
Evelyn was born in a small town, Diamond, in the mountains of North Georgia to Clifford and Flora Ward. She was their first born and would be joined in the next 20 years by six siblings: Edna "Bettye" Cooke (deceased), Ruth "Sister" Brackett, Roy "Sonny" Ward (deceased), Nena Campbell, June Everett and Kenneth "Bud" Ward.
Nothing made Evelyn happier than working in her garden. She truly believed the old saying, "He who works in the garden works hand in hand with God."
In the late 1960's she expanded her love of home and sewing by taking upholstery classes from Hayward Adult School, later earning her certificate from College of Alameda.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Chris Niles, and a wonderful caregiver, Lita Abadicio.
Viewing will begin on Friday, January 2nd at 11am and Funeral Service will begin at 11:30am at Fremont Congregational Church, 38255 Blacow Rd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial will follow at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park in Hayward, CA.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Evelyn to the Alzheimer's Association or Fremont Congregational Church.
Condolences
