Obituary For Mary Jo Hildenbrand
With a heavy heart, we mourn the loss of Mary Jo, a beloved mother, sister, and friend. Mary Jo's legacy lives on through her daughter, Keary (John) Fox, of Fremont, and her siblings, Patricia Pfliger, Jane (Roger) Felchle, and Gene (Dianne) Taix, of Bismarck, ND, as well as her nieces, nephews, and her precious dog, Lila. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hildenbrand, her parents, Edward and Mabel (Clark) Taix, and her in-laws. Mary Jo's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Mary Jo dedicated her life to caring for others, and her nursing career spanning 45 years is a testament to her unwavering commitment to her patients, colleagues, and their families. She obtained a Registered Nursing degree from Mary College while working at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck and went on to specialize in Critical Care/Intensive Care, most recently at Washington Hospital in Fremont, CA. Mary Jo's kind and compassionate nature made her a beloved nurse, and she made a difference in the lives of countless patients.
Mary Jo's love for life was infectious, and she and her late husband, Thomas Hildenbrand, shared many adventures together. They traveled far and wide, from road trips to visit family to cruising in the Caribbean and exploring Europe. Hawaii held a special place in their hearts, and they enjoyed snorkeling and visiting nurseries to bring orchids back home, finding it cathartic to care for her flowers and plants. Mary Jo cherished the time she spent with Tom, and their memories together will forever be treasured.
Mary Jo's love for animals was evident in everything she did. Growing up on a farm, she played with barn cats and later owned several Pomeranians. In her retirement years, Mary Jo found comfort and companionship with her rescue Maltipoo, Lila. Her love for animals was just one of the many ways she showed her kind and giving nature.
Mary Jo's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found great comfort in the sacraments during her long illness. Her devotion to Catholicism was evident in everything she did, from regularly giving to Catholic charities to helping those in need. Mary Jo's legacy of kindness and generosity lives on through her unwavering faith.
As we bid farewell to Mary Jo, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and reunited with her loved ones who preceded her in death. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Spirit Church in Fremont on April 21 at 10 am, to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman who touched so many lives. Mary Jo will forever be remembered for her selflessness, compassion, and unwavering love.
