Obituary For Michael "Mike" Healy

Michael “Mike” J. Healy was called home on March 8th, 2022. He was a man of God, with a heart of gold. A Navy veteran who loved his country, baseball, football, fishing, camping, nature, and life.

Mike was no perfect man, but he served a perfect God, and he did so with love and compassion. He learned the best gift he could give was to love all those he met with a love he received from God; beginning with family, neighbors, and his faith community at Holy Spirit Church, Fremont.

Mike was a prayer warrior, taking a cue from St. Michael; if God willing, daily morning Mass with praying the Rosary after. He was a truck driver by trade, a career he always wanted to pursue from the age of 5. When he was out on the road, wherever he stopped to eat he would make the sign of the cross and prayed thanksgiving prayer before his meal. It didn’t matter if he was in a restaurant, at a drive-thru sitting in his rig, a rest stop when driving the longer hauls, or when returning late for dinner; he was always thanking God. His family recalls being out to eat with him when folks would come up to him and thank him for praying. He knew the little things mattered. His mom wrote in his baby book that before the age of 2, he would pray the sign of the cross without any words.

On March 8th 2022, a single light in this very dark world went out. But because of his love, and his discipleship, he helped ignite many other lights in his place. His mission was complete and his home in Heaven was prepared. In this his family finds peace knowing he is in a better place with a God who welcomes him with open arms. Michael, his good and faithful servant is at peace.

He leaves behind a legacy of love. Michael is survived by his mother, Louise, his son Christopher Healy, and grandsons Jackson and Thomas. His daughter Jerin Healy. His siblings Dianne, Rusty, Wes, Kathy, Debi, Karen, Art, Rick, John, and Noni, and many handsome and beautiful nephews and nieces. We will greatly miss his kind and gentle ways.

A Mass will be celebrated for him at Holy Spirit Church, Fremont, on April 1 (Friday) at 1 p.m.

Paralyzed Vets and Wounded Warriors are just two of the charities he supported, or give flowers to someone you love.

You have always been my protector, even when you teased me mercilessly as children. You have left us with memories that will forever last to those who God put in your path. I can't wait to see you again in eternity with Jesus.

When we discussed our faith, I'll be honest, I knew your faith was so deep and strong. These last 2 years have been tough especially for you as you discovered the only really important thing was faith/trust in Almighty God. Your witness is helping my trust because faith and trust go hand in hand. Thank you for your gentlemanly way of correcting a know it all older sister. Thank you for thanking God every morning for the beautiful day, our beautiful Church, the bounty of our meals, the age we live in, all creation; you found so many ways to thank HIM. Remind me every morning to give thanks. By the way, God, thank you for my brothers and sisters; such wonderful and inspiring gifts.

Dearest brother, this life we shared in our adult life was marked by joys and trials; yet love triumphed with the Lord Jesus' promise that you embraced. Our simple sibling differences were strengths we shared unknowingly, gifted to all around us. Words I failed to say as of late, were summed up daily when we shared the same home; it's where my strength lies now, remembering our words to each other: I love you, peace be with you and so many more that I now cherish. Thank You God for allowing me to share in his life because his enriched mine bigger that he was. I love you, my big brother Micheal !!!
