Obituary For Miriam Elfriede Frazier

Miriam Elfriede Frazier was born on July 9, 1934 in White Plains, Westchester, New York to Carlos Diaz Alvarez and Elfriede Lormes Fischer Alvarez. Miriam died on April 4, 2025 in Fremont, Alameda, California, after being a resident of Fremont for 57 years. At her passing she was 90 years, 8 months and 26 days of age.

Miriam married her first husband, Del Bretones, her high school sweetheart in 1954 at her parent’s home in White Plains, New York. Miriam and Del had 4 children, Donna, Susan, David and Aaron. Miriam and Del divorced in June 1976.

On November 18, 1989 she married her husband, Harry M. Frazier, in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Miriam and Harry met at a church singles group activity. When they married, Miriam became the “bonus” mom to Harry’s two sons, Adam and Aaron Frazier.

Miriam was on the Dean’s List in college and received her degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Laboratory Institute of Fashion Merchandising (now LIM College) in midtown Manhattan, New York. After graduation she commuted daily on the subway from White Plains to New York City for work which included positions at Bloomingdale’s, B. Altman and Bonwit Teller.

Miriam worked at several jobs while raising her children. Miriam was an office manager at the dental office of Dr. Bernie Stewart & Dr. Jerry Jensen in Fremont, CA, office manager at Beaver Lumber in Sunnyvale, CA and lastly as the Physical Facilities Office Manager of the Bay Area Physical Facilities Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she retired after almost 20 years.

Miriam enjoyed many hobbies among them, reading, knitting, cooking, playing the piano and collecting anything by the artist Laurel Burch. Also, Miriam was proud to be a card-carrying NRA member.

Miriam was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She accepted and fulfilled her callings with honor including working in the Young Women’s, Relief Society and Primary organizations. Once her health started to decline, she couldn’t be as active as she wanted but she still coordinated and produced the weekly ward sacrament meeting program for several years with Harry’s help.

In 2018 Miriam was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease with its accompanying dementia. With Harry as her sole caretaker 24/7 Miriam was able to stay at home and live comfortably and independently up until the last 22 days of her life at which time, she was admitted to a wonderful caring hospice board and care facility where she passed away on the morning of April 4, 2025.
