Obituaries

Nancy was born January 13, 1933 to Thomas & Gertrude Lewis in Waco Texas. Due to the sudden death of Gertrude, Nancy, still a toddler was taken in by her cousin Elsie Cook of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Elsie raised Nancy along with her own four children, LV Cook Jr, Norma Jean Young, Ida Reed, and Earl Cook. At age 14 Nancy rejoined her father and step mother, Emma Gene, and brother Thomas David Lewis in Tucson Arizona until adulthood. Nancy then attended the University of Arizona.

She later moved to San Francisco where she met and married her husband, Urbie Dennis. The two went on to have two girls, Michelle and Lisa. Urbie preceded Nancy in death in 1975.

Nancy worked in Operator Services as a service assistant in Pacific Telephone, later known as Pacific Bell and still later SBC and currently known as AT&T. She worked there some forty plus years. Nancy enjoyed her retirement in the San Francisco area with her daughters and friends for many years.

She entered into rest on June 15, 2019. Nancy is survived by her daughters Michelle and Lisa of Mountain House California and her "baby sister" Ida of Buckeye Arizona and a host of nieces and nephews and their children.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, 10 – 11 AM, at San Francisco Christian Center, 5845 Mission St, San Francisco, with a Chapel Service at 11 AM.
