Obituary For Nicholas James Herman
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Nick Herman born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey passed away peacefully in San Jose. He was 81 years old. Nick, known for his wonderful sense of humor and absolute love of his family, leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Luisa Herman and daughters, Robyn (Steve) Barraza, Lisa (Ruben) Martinez and April Souza. Nick loved and enjoyed every single moment he spent with his 10 grandchildren; Nick, Sheila, Andy, Erica, Alex, James, Alyssa, RJ, Beth and Vanessa. Nick also leaves behind his brothers, Eddie and Ronnie. Nick was preceded in death by his eldest son, Michael, his mother, Mary and sister, Elaine.
After working in a brick factory, at age 40 Nick took the brave step to go back to college and graduated from San Jose State University earning his BS degree and teaching credential. He is a retired school teacher from the Newark Unified School District. He was always amazed at the fact he got paid to do a job that he loved so much. Nick and Luisa, who is also a retired school teacher, traveled often during summer breaks and were lucky enough to celebrate their retirement with a 98-day Cruise around the world. Those memories stayed near and dear to his heart until the end.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2:30pm at Fremont Memorial Chapel, 3723 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Inurnment at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, CA.
