Obituaries

Entered into rest on January 18, 2013 in Hayward, CA at the age of 73 with her family by her side. Beloved mother of Brenda Osburne of Grants Pass, OR, and Shawn Kelly and his wife Heather of Reno, NV. Grandmother of 6, and great-grandmother of 6.

Rita was born in Clinton, OK on November 11, 1939 and moved to California more than 50 years ago. Rita worked as a cook for over 40 years. She owned a few restaurants and loved to cook. She enjoyed country life and riding horses. She was very passionate about roses and dedicated a great deal of time creating silk flower arrangements to decorate her home.

She courageously fought a short but difficult battle with cancer. Her spirited nature brought joy and entertainment to all, especially to those caring for her in her last days. Although Rita was a "tough cookie," she had a great capacity for love and kindness. Rita will be remembered with love and fondness and she will be missed.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, January 25, 11am at Irvington Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, CA.
