Obituaries

Born April 10, 1934 in Portland, OR and entered into rest with her family at her side on February 13, 2014 in Fremont, CA at the age of 79. Beloved mother of Steven Chinn (Joni), Randy Chinn (Moon), Teresa Chinn (Paul), and Terena Chinn-Fujii (Craig). Cherished grandmother of Derrick, Noelle, Taylor, Michelle, and Keoni. Also survived by her granddogs Abbie and Lulu. Predeceased by her husband John Chinn in 1998.

Norma married her sweetheart, Johnny, in 1957, and together they moved to different cities as Johnny's career in the aerospace industry was advancing. She was an active member of the Chinese Christian Family Conference in Lake Tahoe and formed many new friendships. As her children got older, Norma worked at several retail stores before becoming a government employee and retiring after 22 years. She loved to cook (especially Chinese dishes), bake, sewing, knitting, and gardening. Norma traveled the world visiting China, Central America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Canada, Hawaii, and throughout the United States. After she was widowed in 1998, she moved to Fremont to be closer to her daughters, joined a Tai Chi group, was actively involved with the Senior Center and volunteering, working on the computer, and daily walks at Lake Elizabeth. Her unconditional love and devotion will always be instilled in all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held for Norma on Saturday, February 22, 10:30am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536.
