Obituaries

Osmond Jasper Chung, age 94, passed away peacefully after a stroke on December 22, 2022.

He was born in Sherwood, Jamaica. After attending high school, he moved to Kingston where he became a senior auditor and worked there for many years. In 1960, he married Charmaine Summers and they had a son, Wayne. He and his family migrated to Redwood City, California in 1967. Osmond was very proficient in his accounting career and landed his first and only job in the United States at the prestigious Stanford University where he did auditing.

He was predeceased by his wife and son. Also known as OJ, Oz, Ozzie & Uncle, he was a quiet and gentle man who loved his wife and son very deeply. His strength was his dedication to love his family and his extended family by supporting them with hospitality, guidance and generosity.

A man of honor, respect, gentleness and compassion was who Osmond was. He was a very classy man who loved Jazz and classical music. He had an extensive collection of classical music and it would be heard for hours throughout the house emanating from his very sophisticated stereo system. He would share copies of any new CDs and mail to family members who appreciated this type of music.

Photography was another hobby and he was excellent and meticulous in his selection and display of his work. Of course he would always send pictures to whoever he captured in his shot. Again, this displayed the kindness in this man.

He loved all the Bay Area sports teams and recently became a fanatic of the WWE. Just one of the kindest of souls and most generous person who helped better the lives of many. He was loved, respected and looked up to by all.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4 from 4-8pm and the Funeral Service is scheduled for Thursday, January 5 at 11am. Both will be held at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536.
