Obituary For Patricia Mary Vargas

There is no real way to describe such an important life as that of our mother, Patricia Mary Vargas. She was a wife, a mother and a friend. She was born in San Francisco on November 3, 1931, and entered into rest at 87 years old on December 19, 2018, in the family home. Patricia is survived by her loving children Connie Elkhouri, Andy Vargas, Dana (Joe) Bearce, Guy Vargas, Ronald Wayne, Ruth Vargas, Trisha Bryant and Terra (Adalberto) Orozco. Adoring 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Earl Vargas in 1996 and her daughters Sandra D. Harman, Theresa Mills and Crystal Rojas.

Our mother and father were foster parents for over 40 years in Alameda County. It was the joy of her life. Mom also worked as a cashier for Toy's R Us for 6 years, and Walmart for 14 years. In her younger years, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Washington for many years and was on bowling leagues.

She loved her dogs, Seamus and Sheela intensely. Loved roses, collected dolls, knitting, red wine, and all things Irish. Most of all, the family was everything to her and she sacrificed a lot for us, expecting nothing except we love each other. This is her legacy. Our sorrow is overwhelming.

Visitation will be held from 5PM – 8PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 with a Vigil at 6:30PM, Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM, Friday, January 4, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont.

Inurnment will take place on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward.

I remember the first time I became aware of adults having an age. I don't know why I was surprised, but I never forgot what my mother said when I asked her how old she was. She said, "27," which is the age of my own daughter now. She was so young, but I didn't know it. I was 7. She was so pretty then. -Connie

There are so many good people with big hearts in this world and your mom, full of love and faith, was one of them. She had the gift of kindness and caring for others, with unconditional love for many. She was loved by all of us and we will always keep fond memories of her close in our hearts. Your Mom/Aunt Patti will be deeply missed. Love Suzie Vargas(DePrato) and family.

Irish Blessing for Aunt Patti, "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand." Love always, Suzie Vargas (DePrato)
