Obituary For Ray J. Guerra

Ray Guerra passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 5, 2020. He was born June 11, 1928 in San Bernardino, California as Ramon J. Guerra. He was the second child to parents Rudolfo and Librada Guerra, who had an older daughter (Lupe) and later had four younger sons (Raul, Ruben, Alfred, and Harvey). As a young boy the family moved north and settled in Fremont, CA. This is where Ray met his future wife, Antoinette Balcita, in grade school. She was the love of his life. They married on October 1, 1949 and went on to have five children; Gregory (Maria), Chris, Annette, Serge, and Glenn. Ray had 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren who he was so proud of and doted on every moment he could. He was their number one fan and never missed a sporting event or milestone in their lives. He was a welder by trade and was so talented at his craft. He enjoyed building things from scratch and working in his yard. He was a master at fixing anything and was so universally handy. The family never hesitated to call on him when they needed help with home improvements, building or fixing things, or if they had a project they wanted to see come to fruition. He was THE MAN! Ray was a big sports fan and loved watching football and baseball. He was especially dedicated if it was one of his kids or grandkids on the field. He always made his presence known, cheering in the stands. Ray dedicated his life to his family and was the true meaning of a Patriarch. His family always came first, and he continually went above and beyond for them all. Ray will be deeply missed by many, but none more than his immediate family who was there to assist and support him on a daily basis in his final months, just as he had been for them throughout their lives. Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Guerra who passed away in April, his parents Rudolfo and Librada, his sister Lupe Galvin, brothers Ruben and Harvey Guerra, and his daughter-in-law Angel Guerra. Ray is survived by his five children, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, as well as his brothers Raul Guerra of Fremont, CA and Alfred (Isabel) Guerra of Planada, CA. There will be a private burial for immediate family only. A formal memorial service for extended family and friends will come at a later date.

My family lived next door (415) Walton Ave. Centerville (Fremont), Ca. next to Ray and Ana Guerra, I believe. Mom, (Aylene Brownfield) went to Hollywood with Ana and were on the "Queen For A Day" show. Mom won because of her story about her 9 kids, 2 sets of twins, a set of triplets, and 2 single birth children. Please let me know if I am correct and did Ana go on the show. Mom won a bunch of stuff. Ray, Ana, and kids were very nice neighbors. Howard L. Brownfield DDS Greenwood, Ar. Thanks
