Obituary For Raymond Allen Greppi

Raymond Allen Greppi was born on March 8, 1948, in San Francisco, California, to Rose Constance Athor McCarthy and Raymond Alexander Greppi. Surrounded by his devoted family, Raymond passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024.

Raymond was a proud graduate of Riordon High School, Class of 1966. When Raymond was fifteen he was on a family vacation at Russian River when he met the love of his life, Mary. They married on March 15, 1969 at Saint Paul’s Church in San Francisco. Soon after, he was drafted and served his country in Vietnam. He returned home 9 months after the birth of their first child, Raymond August Greppi. In 1972, Ray and Mary moved to Fremont, California, where they welcomed their second child, Jennifer Rebecca Greppi. Raymond had a distinguished 38-year career with Western/Delta Airlines before retiring to enjoy his passions and family.

Raymond was a dedicated and loving grandfather to his cherished grandchildren Alyssa Freitas, Emily Freitas, and Raymond Greppi, and a doting great-grandfather to his sweet Melanie Rodriguez. His love for his family was boundless. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his children Raymond and Jennifer, his grandchildren Alyssa, Emily, and Raymond, his great-granddaughter Melanie, his brothers Michael McCarthy, Clark Burton, Bruce Burton his sisters Diane Tomasello and Lynne Burton and his dear Aunt Linda Maya and Uncle Bob Espinosa along with countless cousins, extended family, and treasured friends.

Raymond's life was rich with love and joy. He found happiness in gardening, cooking, dancing, playing online Poker and spending time with family. He loved to travel and visited many other cities in the United States, as well as many countries around the world. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, often seen passionately cheering (and sometimes yelling at the TV!) during 49ers, Giants, or Warriors games. His love of reality TV, especially Below Deck and The Real Housewives, brought him endless entertainment. He had an open door policy at his home where so many came during their time of need. He not only opened his home he opened his heart with wisdom, advice and encouragement to move forward again.

Sending my deepest love, prayers, and condolences. I've loved you all since I was 14 years old & am forever grateful to have been in the presence of Ray— a wonderful man who loved his family fiercely and welcomed his home to me when I had nowhere to go...you all have been a second family to me & was always there. His contagious laugh always had me laughing even from another room which was so funny because Alyssa & I would instantly get side tracked in our conversation as Alyssa would stop & say "haha grandpa's laugh!" his cooking, his advice, his story telling with music, his love for Mary & party times, unwavering support, kind greetings each time I saw him & deep care for his loved ones was evident always. He always congratulated me with every achievement & truly wanted to see all his loved ones happy & doing great things! The amount of love & support I felt & witnessed from this beautiful family is truly something so special & I'll always hold his kind voice in my head saying hi to me...just as he always did greeting me while sitting on the side of the house looking so content...forever. God bless you grandpa Ray. Until we meet again!
