Obituary For Reg Wallace

Reginald (Reg) Wallace passed away peacefully at home on 4/22/23. He was born to Franklin Wallace and Jennie Wallace (Richards) on 7/6/35 in Lawndale North Carolina. He had two younger siblings Jolene and Danny. He lived in a rural area where after school many boys hunted wild game for supper. The local schools also had a multi-week break during the cotton harvest and Dad did his share of cotton picking.

After his high school graduation in 1953 Reg moved to Washington DC with a friend and was hired by Capitol Airlines. Soon after he was drafted by the Army and spent two years in Germany. In 1956 he returned to Capitol Airlines which merged with United Airlines. He quickly met his future wife of 50 years Ann Lorraine McGinnis and they were married in 1957 and by the end of 1960 they had two sons, Mike and Rick. Reg took a transfer to San Francisco in 1964 and the family moved to Belmont, CA for five years. In 1969 Reg and Lorraine bought their one and only house in Newark, CA and both spent the rest of their lives in that home.

In his younger years Dad liked to play softball, golf, and fish. As he got older, he liked to travel with Lorraine and went to many places in Europe and Asia and took numerous cruises. But his first choice of a good time was to go to casinos. Dad took his boys fishing, tried to teach them golf (he failed), and took them to many sporting events including the 7th game of the World Series between the Oakland A’s and New York Mets. He also took them to scout camping trips and numerous little league and football practices. After Mom’s health began to decline Dad devoted much of his time for many years to caring for her and seeing to her needs.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Danny and Sharman Wallace, his sons Mike (Marie) and Rick Wallace, grandchildren Sarah, Richard, and Marc, former daughter-in-law Sumaya, good friend Bonnie Kelley, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine Wallace, sister and brother-in-law Jolene and Bob Suddreth, and good friend Tim Kelley. Per his wishes there will be no memorial. Reg was a unique, funny, quick-witted man who worked hard to provide for his family, he will be missed.

We didn't get to spend much time with Uncle Reggie and Aunt Lorraine, only a few days about once a year, but when we did, he always made us laugh. Derrick and Lance will always remember going on a cruise with him. Prayers for comfort and fond memories-with love, Karen (Sudderth), Steve, Derrick, Lance Chitwood
