Obituaries

Entered into rest on April 8, 2012 in Fremont at the age of 96. Beloved mother of Maureen Filler and her husband Michael, and Kathleen Sao and her husband Haoth, all of Union City. Cherished grandmother of Kevin Sao, Randy Sao, Melissa Davis, Mishell Davis, Clara Sao, Jessika Filler, Melanie Davis, Michael Filler, Katie Sao, and Amanda Sao. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Mary Alice Marx, her brother Bernard McAteer, her husband Joseph L. Goss, and her granddaughter Irene Sao.

Born December 4, 1915 in Pittsburgh, PA, Regina served in the Marine Corps from 1944-1954. She was a life member of the Women Marines Association of California, Chapter 3. She was a resident of Rohnert Park for 30 years and most recently a resident of Union City. She enjoyed music, old movies, puzzles, and card games (especially Rummy). She loved going to activities at Windsor Park. Regina lived her strong Catholic faith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 5-8pm with a vigil at 7pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 703 C St., Union City, CA 94587. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 20, 10am at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. An inurnment with military honors will be held on Monday, April 23, 1pm at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
