Obituary For Richard "Dick" Fullerton
In the early morning of May 26, 2017, with his family surrounding him, Richard "Dick" Fullerton transitioned from his earthly home to his eternal home. Dick was born on October 7, 1930 in Los Angeles, California to George and Isabel Fullerton. He was a much beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Of all of his experiences in life, Dick loved dancing to Big Band music the most. He loved noisy, laughing family gatherings, swimming in the ocean and the beauty of Yosemite Nat. Park and recently cruising with family. How we will miss his twinkling blue eyes, his impish smile, and teasing with the grandchildren. Dick lived and attended school in Glendale, CA until entering the US Navy on December 26, 1950. Most of his time in the Navy was spent serving on the aircraft carrier the USS Philippine Sea. Upon returning to civilian life in October 1954, Dick was employed at a blueprinting shop, and later transferred to Santa Barbara to open a new blueprinting shop. It was in l956 on a sunny fall day at the beach in Santa Barbara, that Dick met his future wife, Denis Whyte, a student at UCSB. They were married in San Bernardino on July 13, 1958 and during their almost 59 years of marriage, their love has continued to bloom. When Dick began a job with Fullerton Engineering Sales Co. as a salesman in the Bay Area, Dick and Denise moved to the Bay Area where daughters Dana, Deanne, Dorie and Amy were born. The family has deep roots in Newark where they have lived since 1961. Dick has been involved in school, youth and volunteer groups, including the Boy and Girl Scouts, hosting foreign students of INTERPAC and YFU, various activities for the Newark First Presbyterian Church, Lido Faire Home Owners Association and for many years the Newark Optimist Club. Dick also worked at an Optimist Bingo game to benefit a youth camp near La Honda Dick leaves behind, to remember and smile at those memories, his wife, Denise, daughters Dana Rozelle, Deanne Fullerton, Dorie Fullerton (Steve Refling), and Amy Timothy. He will always be loved by grandchildren Douglas Rozelle (Aubrey), CarrieAnne Kimball, Sasha Kimball, Aubrey Pauley (Phillip), Holly Tsunemoto, Jerrilyn Timothy, Tevis Timothy, Jessika Krigbaum and Brandon Fullerton (Yvette). Great grandchildren include Ethan Fullerton, Stephan, Jonathan and Catherine Rozelle, Chelsey Avila, and Baby Boy to be Pauley.
