Obituaries

Born October 4, 1928 in Haverhill, Massachusetts and entered into rest on August 25, 2014 in Fremont, California at the age of 85. Survived by his wife of 65 years Barbara J. Cole; sons: John E. Cole, Steven W. Cole, and Gary R. Cole; grandsons: Justin Cole, and Jonathan Cole; and brother Custer A. Cole. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

Richard served in the U.S. Navy and then went on to work for Western Electric for 35 years. He was an avid snow skier for over 60 years. He loved the outdoors and traveled with the Wally Byam Caravan Club #14443 for more than 20 years, traveling to Canada and Mexico and all over the U.S. in his Airstream with Barbara.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, from 4:30-6:30pm and a Chapel Service will follow at 6:30pm at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 11:30am at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Rd., Gustine, CA 95322.
