Obituary For Rick Allen Wood

Rick Allen Wood, age 60, of Fremont passed away unexpectedly on Thursday July 8, 2022 from heart failure. He is survived by his mother Esther (Marlene) Wood; his children, Rikki Wood and Randy Wood; his granddaughter Penelope Lindstrom; his sisters Debbie Wood, Toni (Wood) VanHooser, Renee Wood, and Kelly Wood; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death was his father, Richard Wood. Since his early childhood, Rick always loved to artistically create, and those talents excelled with his passion for cars. He admired his father as a skilled welder, mechanic, and drag racer and dedicated his life following those footsteps. He took absolute pleasure working with his son to carry on the tradition. Rick was a master mechanic and painter, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He built numerous cars for himself, always taking pride when going to the racetrack and car shows. Throughout his years, he constantly strived to help others with their cars as well. Rick had a huge heart and was always there to give a helping hand. Whether it was a friend in need of support, a family member who trusted his advice, or a stranger who was feeling hard times. His friendships extended throughout generations, and he never forgot those who cared. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 12:00 pm. at the Newark Pavilion, 6430 Thorton Avenue, Newark. If attending, in honor of his passion, please wear your favorite hot rod shirt!

The memories with Rick are uncountable. After 52 years of friendship we had done about everything possible for two friend's to share. Him and his father Richard. Are the reason and inspiration I needed to become a teacher and an engineer. The reason I have spent the last forty year's racing. Rick was kind beyond measure. Always willing to help a perfect stranger without question. A man of truth, decency, respect and honor. He will be greatly missed. And always in my heart and soul.

I remember I must have been a freshman n I was at Rick's just standing around when Rick says u want to drive my car.... I said sure n just waiting for the punch line.. but then he gets in the passenger seat so I get in the driver seat just waiting for him to start laughing.. but he never did instead he started the car n said let's go... At that moment in time I was on top of the world!!! I drove around the big block the long way... When I thought it couldn't get better Rick says give it some gas so I did but then Rick says give it more gas😁.... My Deepest Condolences.... Jose Rodriguez
