Obituary For Ronald Douglas Gonsalves

Entered into rest on November 27, 2012 in Union City, CA at the age of 68. Husband of 38 years to Maria Gonsalves of Hayward. Devoted father to Ronnie Gonsalves of Hayward, and Chris Gonsalves of Hayward. Treasured brother of his twin Rockie Gonsalves and his wife Kathy of Lake County, and Robin Gonsalves of Lake County. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents George and Margie Gonsalves, his sister Melody Gonsalves, and his brother Gregory Gonsalves.

In loving memory of a beloved father. Ronald Gonsalves was born May 22, 1944. A U.S. Army veteran, Ron and his family were very proud of the many years of service he provided. He served in the Vietnam War from 1966-68 and was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Ron was an amazingly talented musician, playing the sax, guitar, and keyboard. But above all, Ron was a family man. He loved spending time with his family. He was always there for his children and family and put them above himself always. After returning from the war, Ronald was an owner/operator for R&M Trucking which assisted in the construction of the Dumbarton Bridge. He was a man of faith and was close to God, spending countless hours and his Sundays at church. Ron was deeply involved in his community. He will always be in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. He will forever be loved, missed, and never forgotten. His children, family, and friends will cherish every happy memory spent with Ron and will continue to love him as he loved all of us.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 4, from 6-8pm with a Vigil at 7pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 703 C St., Union City, CA 94587. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 5, 10am at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.

Donations may be made in memory of Ron to The Salvation Army of Hayward, 430 A St., Hayward, CA 94541.
