Obituary For Ronald Lee Lumley

Ronald Lee Lumley, 75 of Fremont, passed away on July 27, 2023.

Ron was born on August 26, 1947 in Oakland, California to Bernice and Fred Lumley. He graduated from Newark High School and shortly after graduation left for boot camp. After serving his country for 3 ½ years in the US Air Force, he returned home and met his future wife. He married Janette Robinson on June 20, 1971. Ron supported his family by working for AC Transit in the office headquarters for over 40 years. He was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints having held many different positions over the years, most notably being a Bishop.

His love of service stretched beyond church to all those he encountered. Ron had a deep love of serving others, his wife, kids, his community, and church. He was never one to hold the spotlight; he preferred to serve others quietly in the background. A couple of ways Ron gave back to the community was volunteering as a coach in the Fremont American Little League (F.A.L.L.) and by donating blood at the American Red Cross. Ron loved Bay Area sports teams and was a frequent attendee at the Oakland Coliseum to root on the A’s; a loyal fan till the end.

He is survived by Jan, his wife, brother Rich, six children: Chris (Michelle) of Phoenix, Arizona, Todd (Erin) of South Jordan, Utah, Jenni (Pale) of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Craig (Sarah) of South Jordan Utah, Becki (Scott) of Hayward, and Mandy (Jimmy) of Doha Qatar; 21 grandchildren, and 1 dog, Mollie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Phil, his 2 sisters Robin, Gwen, and his family dogs: Smokey, Brydee, Pebbles, and Cali.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, 3pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located on 810 Walnut Ave. Fremont, Ca 94536.

Flowers can be delivered to this address at 2pm or in Lieu of flowers please consider donating in Ron’s name to your local blood bank.

Ron would share stories and words of encouragement. He came with his family to help us paint our bedrooms and closets so we could move in to our house in their neighborhood. He is a hero to his family and admired by his community for lifelong volunteer service.
