Obituary For Sandra Vanieta Amos
Sandy V. Amos passed away March, 20, 2013 after a long courageous battle of cancer.
Sandy was born July 10, 1938 in Anniston, AL. Sandy attended The Holy Name of Jesus which started her on her long career as an R.N. In 1975, Sandy moved to Fremont, CA where she began a path of 38 years with the health care system. She was employed with the Washington Health Care hospital. Sandy worked in many departments from E.R. to teaching and training many nurses. She also served as liaison for the Nurses Union for several years. On October 15, 2011, the "Sandy Amos R.N. Infusion Center" was dedicated in her honor and was attended by many dignitaries and her peers. Today many cancer patients are able to receive treatments in a more relaxed atmosphere. Sandy loved her career, traveling and her beloved pets.
Sandy Amos is survived by a brother, John Hank Amos and wife, Gloria, of Brandon, MS. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Still Amos and her father, Slay Jack Amos. Also surviving is a niece, Kelly and nephew, Kevin and many cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at Elwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Sandy to the American Cancer Society.
