Steven Ray Rapp of Atascadero CA passed away June 4th, 2021. He was 72 years old.

Steven was born June 10 1948 in Enid Oklahoma. His family relocated to California, and he lived most of his childhood in Selma CA. Steven was drafted into the Army and served bravely in Vietnam, where he sustained a life-threatening injury. He retired from the military at that time. Steven married and moved his family to Atascadero CA shortly thereafter. After several bouts with illness, Steven relocated to Livermore CA, where he lived in the Livermore Veterans care facility on and off for the last several years.

Steven was a decorated and proud veteran, earning a Bronze star with Valor, a purple heart, Air medal, Combat infantry and an Army Commendation medal with Valor and Oak leaf cluster. He served as the Commander of the Atascadero Disabled American Veterans (DAV) for several years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Rapp and his mother Catherine Rapp. He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Feavel and her husband Kyle, his granddaughter California White and her husband David, granddaughter Millie Podesta, Grandson Austin Feavel and wife Jenna, Grandson Ethan Feavel and two great- granddaughters, Rosie Feavel and Evelyn White. He is also survived by his sister Paula (Rapp) Perlow and her husband, Arnold Johnson.

Steven loved to garden, and he loved music. His biggest joys in life were his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his extremely positive attitude and his wild sense of humor. Steven came to know and love Jesus and spent many of his last days listening to hymns and sharing his faith with others. He will be greatly missed by all who had the great fortune to have known him. Steven’s family would like to thank the staff at the Livermore Veteran’s care facility. The Doctors, nurses and support staff not only provided exceptional care, but also friendship and love. For that his family is exceptionally grateful.

A service will be held to honor Steven on July 10, 2021, 11 am at Legacy Church, 5545 Ardilla Road, Atascadero.

I never met a more kinder gentle man than Steve. He was my best friend and I feel like I have a hole in my heart. I talked with Steve everyday and visited him often. I took him to Walmart or to a restaurant now and then. Everyday he would make me go over what I did that day and offer me plenty of free advice. He said to me : "When I see you in Heaven Ken I will WALK up to you and shake your hand". Thanks Steve for being my friend.
