Obituary For Ted Eugene Shelton

Ted E. Shelton, loving father, grandfather, uncle and dear friend, entered into eternal rest with our Lord June 4th, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born January 12, 1933 in Pocahontas Arkansas. Ted spent much of his childhood there, then relocated to Ohio, graduating from Washington High School in Washington Courthouse in 1951. Shortly after high school Ted joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Monterrey California, and Moffet Field in Mountain View. Following his deployment on the USS Wasp Aircraft Carrier for a tour of the Pacific, he returned to marry the love of his life Imelda on November 24, 1956. Ted and Imelda lived happily for many years in Fremont California, eventually retiring to Las Vegas, Nevada and Sun City Lincoln Hills. Ted was an electrician by trade, working for companies such as General Electric, Apple and Sega. He also spent time working in the mortgage industry in the San Francisco area. Ted was an avid golfer and gardener with a special talent for growing citrus trees such as Meyer Lemon and Satsuma Mandarins. He enjoyed his classic 1959 Austin Healey and was a member of the local British Car Club, going on many road trips to destinations including Colorado and Oregon. Ted was also a Ham Radio operator and loved talking with people from all over the world.

Ted is predeceased by his devoted wife Imelda after a loving 50 year marriage, his parents Homer and Hazel Shelton, and brother Homer Lee Shelton. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Shelton (Hernandez) of Lincoln, California, Vic Hernandez, grandchildren Drew, Conor and Gillian Hernandez of Yorba Linda California, Gwenan Hernandez and grandson-in-law Conlan Mollard of Clovis, New Mexico, son Theodore Shelton and Marlene Golino of Livermore California, sister-in-law Noreen Shelton, niece Julie Shelton of Anderson, Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, June 9th 6:30pm at Chapel of the Roses Funeral Home, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont, CA. The Requiem Mass will be held Thursday, June 10th at 11:00 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA. Burial immediately following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA.
