  Ted was my uncle. My first memory of him was out front in the yard in Pomona, Ca spending hours polishing his like new black car. All of us kids truly liked Ted he was always teasing or joking and when the family gathered at my grandparents (Squee and Odie's house) it was pretty neat if Ted and his family were there. I miss those days it was a more wholesome time it seemed to me. I remember in the late fifties Ted and his family coming to stay with us for a few months, that is where we got to know his kids, Toni and Diane it was a fun time. I remember being pretty scared when I went into the Navy and had to report to Hunter's Point to be trained by Marine drill instructors. Me and a friend spent the day at Ted's place and just being there and around family made it much easier. The last time I saw Ted was at the family reunion in 2001 I think that was the year. He was as always, Ted. I now know that I was very blessed to have grown up as a Payton. My grandparents had very wholesome down to earth values that were passed on to their children. I think that Ted took after my grandmother he was always on the go doing something just like my grandma Squee. Ted is the last of George and Yoleta's children and that makes me sad.   I'm so sorry to just hear of Uncle Ted's & Aunt Lee's passing just this morning. I had no idea....I spoke to him when Mom passed in August, but he didn't mention about Aunt Lee. Since my mom & dad, Gloria & Paul Comstock, have both passed, it's been hard to keep in touch from so far away. I remember going to Uncle Ted's with my 3 kids and having a great time in the "party room" at his house. He was always nice, joking and kidding with us. He & Lee both loved my mom & dad very much. They came to visit them in Ohio for their 50th wedding anniversary party. Well, now they are all together. Rest in peace Cheryl (Comstock) Gibboney

  Hi Mike, I am a neighbor of Ted's, who once bought a bike built for two from him about 18 years ago. I really liked his smile and love of life. There was an estate sale yesterday, Sunday at his home, where I purchased a few items, that I would like to see go back to the family if someone would like them. It just brought tears to my eyes to see them sitting there and I hope there are some nephews out there that would appreciate the items. i.e. I purchased some coast guard items; his uniform; hat; pins; extensive family history book by George; and Ted's personal bible. I don't know who might be interested, Antonia, (is that Toni?) or Diane - or you. Someone who will honor the items for the family namesake. With deep sorrow, Sincerely, Lori Lowe (650) 793-1263
