Obituary For William Charles Fornuff

On September 1st, 2022, William “Bill” Charles Fornuff, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully at his home. He is survived by his children Adam, Tracy, Tricia, Chad, their spouses Rebecca, Sean, Michael, Melissa, his grandchildren Marissa, Brandon, Emily, Eva, Brandon, Elena, Sofia, Abigail, Sebastian and his brother Charles and sister Janie.

Bill was married to Susan Fornuff for 31 years, she preceded him in death in 2015. Their combined family meant everything to Bill. Bill was a dedicated father and embraced every moment with his children. He especially loved his role as Papa. Papa Bill was his grandchildren’s biggest fan never missing a sporting event, performance, birthday or celebration.

As a great friend said, “Bill never wrote any novels, but he could tell a great story. He never built any great buildings but he was responsible for making him shine. He was never awarded the Father of the Year award, but he raised some great children and grandchildren.”

He taught his family the importance of traditions and in enjoying the simple things in life. He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to the Oakland Athletics, his love of champagne brunches, his monthly visits to the beach and the peacefulness he found in the song of a windchime and the beauty he found in the flight of a hummingbird.

My family and I lived across the street from Bill for over 30 years. From my early days as a kid, I remember watching him come home from his fishing trips and washing his boat after. He was a fixture of the neighborhood and saw so many families come and go. We could not have asked for a better neighbor. I was lucky enough to trade fishing stories and share a beer with him. He will truly be missed by all of us up and down the street.
